Banh it la gai cake: Visiting Binh Dinh, tourists will taste Banh it la gai cake which is the kind of simple and popular cake to Binh Dinh people. On death anniversaries, it is accepted the lack of fish and meat, but there must be banh it la gai cakes. Also in marriage customs, a tray of banh  it la gai cakes is the bride family’s marriage items to the groom’s to show the cleverness and good organisation of women. The cakes are made of fresh sticky rice flour that is mixed well with thorn leaves and sugar. The central part of the cake is made of green bean or coconut rice. The cake consists of the home country’s scent that relates to the saying below:

The Song Thang noodles: made of green bean; famous for its delicious taste, nice scent and high value of nutrition; produced in Anh Thai region (Nhon Phu – An Nhon). It is named “song thang” because when people make noodles, they usually make them into pairs (song means pairs). It is told that the Nguyen dynasty’s kings usually asked An Thai’s noodles maker to go to the Hue capital to make some noodles but it was not successful. It was because there was no Con river water, so people also called it “God river” noodles and the name “song thang” sounded similar.

Banh Hoi: made of rice flour and was the special dish of Binh Dinh. Banh Hoi is usually eaten with pork, dry rice paper, herbs and fish sauce, making a dish with all tastes of sour, spicy, sweet, fat, delicious smelling attractively and specially.

Huyen Market’s Sour Pork Hash: is the kind of sour pork hash made in Tuy Phuoc district, gathered in the district market so it is named Huyen Market’s Sour Pork Hash. It is famous in the whole country and go into people’s life through the saying below:

Dry Pancakes: is a regular dish at local people’s every meal such as normal meal, parties or weddings…  Rop rop sounding and nice smelling… are special features of Binh Dinh art of foods. Binh Dinh is considered as the homeland of Dry Pancakes because it is said that Dry Pancake was a strategic dry dish that was born with the speedy feet of Tay Son soldiers. There are many kinds of dry pancakes such as dry pancakes of rice, dry pancakes of sesame… and especially dry pancakes of coconut water in Hoai Nhon – Binh Dinh. Dry pancake is also a special gift of Binh Dinh homeland.

Bau Da Wine: Is a famous wine of Binh Dinh; made in An Nhon; its delicious taste is special and can be equal to other famous wines of the country such as Van village’s wine in the North and Go Den Wine in the South…

Seafood:

Chinh seafood: there are many kinds of Chinh such as Chinh Mum and Chinh Bong, whose meat is so delicious and nutritious. A specialty is Chinh Mum in Chau Truc lagoon in Phu My district, which is famous for being delicious smelling and highly nutritious.

Shrimps, Crabs, Cuttle- fish and Fish: such as lobsters, and prawns, King crabs, Ocean Tuna,…that are made into attractive dishes with highly nutritious value, fulfilling all tastes.
