1. Project title: Da Mai Reservoir

2. Project location: Van Canh District, Binh Dinh Province

3. Project objectives:

The project area including the two communes of Phuoc Thanh and Canh Vinh has more than 850ha under cultivation requiring irrigation, yet only about 200ha of which has been irrigated. Thus, the construction of Da Mai reservoir will contribute to food security, improvement of local people's living, simultaneously to flood control and alleviation of natural calamity, and also to the clearance of the dams constructed of branches/twigs and sand which cost hundreds of tons of paddy for local residents to build them.

Da Mai Reservoir is constructed to ensure the gravity irrigation for 700ha under cultivation and for drainage from the dams located in the lower sections of Ha Thanh River to provide irrigation for 500 ha under agricultural cultivation and 66 under aquaculture.

4. Project scale:

Earthen dam: in the form of three-block combined dam, with top 720m in length, 22.47m in max height and a holding capacity of 12.7 million m³.

Spillway: Free spillway 70m in width and flow rate of 371m³/s.

Water intake: constructed of reinforced concrete, with gate-mouth 1.25 x 1.5m.

The canal system: cross-sectionally of rectangular and trapezium, constructed of concrete and reinforced concrete, with a total length of 10km.
