1. Project title: Improving An Du Estuary of Lai Giang River

2. Project location: Hoai Nhon District, Binh Dinh Province.

3. Project objectives: Protecting the river banks from erosion and sustaining the river mouth; ensuring flood control and efficient for Lai Giang River basin; preventing prolonged inundation in the residential and production areas of Hoai Nhon, Hoai An and An Lao districts in Lai Giang River basin and protecting of human lives and properties in the locality.

4. Project scale:

In the estuary areas, the river-bed is 500m wide in the flood season and 70m in the dry season.

Dredging channels: The channels should be dredged to be 70m in width, 1140m in length, -5m in height, with a co-efficient of the channel eave m = 10.

Breakwater/embankment: including two breakwaters with the bases buried in the sand bar of the river mouth. The two bases are 500 m apart. The breakwater K1 is 374m long and the breakwater K2 260m long. The breakwaters are to be built of stone-cored tetrapods .

To line with reinforced concrete blocks the seashore that protects the breakwater base.

To line with pre-moulded reinforced concrete blocks for the protection of the river mouth.
