N1 THUAN NINH IRRIGATION CANAL

1. Project title: N1 Thuan Ninh Irrigation Canal                                                  

2. Project location: Tay Son District, Binh Dinh Province                                                      

3. Project objectives:

Thuan Ninh reservoir has a holding capacity of approximately 35 million m³, ensuring the supply of irrigation for the communes of Binh Thanh, Binh Thuan and Binh Tan of Tay Son district, and the commune of Cat Hiep of Phu Cat district. However, the system of irrigation canals has not been well established because of the inavailability of fund. Therefore, the construction of the system of N1 canals of Thuan Ninh reservoir aims to utilize the irrigation effectively, to expand the agricultural production and raise the crop-yield in the context of sustainable economic development.

4. Project scale:

The investment in the development of N1 irrigation canals is to ensure a constant supply of  gravity irrigation for 1 665 ha under cultivation in the communes of Binh Thuan and Binh Tan of Tay Son district and the commune of Cat Hiep of Phu Cat district. The components of the project involve  the construction of  :

- Level 1 canals: cross-sectionally of trapezium and constructed of earth, concrete and reinforced concrete, 3 km in length.

- Level 2 canals: cross-sectionally of rectangular and trapezium, constructed of concrete and reinforced concrete, with a total length of 15 km.

- Level 3 canals: cross-sectionally  of rectangular and  trapezium, constructed of concrete and reinforced concrete, 26 km in length.

Number of construction works in connection with irrigation canals : 376, constructed of concrete and reinforced concrete and stones.
