The Office of the Government just informed that H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan had agreed in principle to allow Binh Dinh Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Company (BIDIPHAR) to make joint venture with a Champasak based company to plant and process rubber in Laos. The USD10 million project (80% of which owned by BIDIPHAR) is to be implemented in the two southern provinces of Champasak and Sekong. The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) is said to issue the outbound investment license to BIDIPHAR in several days. Apart from BIDIPHAR’s project, the MPI is now processing the project document of Binh Dinh Industry Agriculture Trading Co., Ltd (BIDINA) to invest in Sekong Province with a total capital of USD12 million for phase 1. This 100% Binh Dinh invested project aims to set up new plantations of rubber, sugar-cane, cassava and industrial trees in association with processing factories in Sekong.
