Substantial investment for tourism infrastructure in 200726 Feb 2007The State budget will invest 750 billion VND (46.8 million USD) in tourism infrastructure in 2007, according to the Viet Nam Administration of Tourism (VAT).The amount was 21 percent higher than that of 2006 and helped bring the total State investment in tourism infrastructure in the 2001-2007 period to 3.5 trillion VND (220 million USD).The VAT said that the investment will be focused on national tourism projects in the central region and the Central Highlands, areas near Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, and tourism projects in isolated and remote regions.In 2006, the government poured 620 billion VND (38.7 million USD) in building tourism infrastructure in 59 cities and provinces nationwide.Many of those projects have been put into operation, helping attract visitors as well as more investment in tourism. New infrastructure in Sa Pa and Bac Ha in Lao Cai province, a ship wharf in Ha Nam province, coastal projects in central Nghe An province, roads in Ha Tinh and Quang Nam provinces have resulted in 32 tourism projects in these localities.-EnditemSource: MPI |
