New Zealand Government funds “Kindergarten education and care in Binh Dinh Province” programme

Prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the programme “kindergarten education and care in Binh Dinh Province” funded by New Zealand Government. Through NZAID- New Zealand’s International Aid & Development Agency, New Zealand will provide USD2 million (non-refundable ODA capital) to implement a USD3.3 million project for kindergarten children in Binh Dinh, Vietnam. As for the province, it will provide the corresponding capital of USD1.2 million and the provincial People’s Committee will take full reponsibility for ratifying the project’s document.
The project’s target is to bring about a communication campaign on education for pre-schoolers in 58 communes in the province’s remote, poor and minor ethnic areas. The construction of 69 classrooms and supplying early childhood education to 6000 children in the areas is recognised as an important learning opportunity for children, helping to well implement “the national programme of action on education for everyone 2003-2015”.
It is anticipated that the project will be implemented from the second quarter of 2007 till the end of 2008.
