Intergrated Rural Development Project in the Central Provinces

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development just promulgated the Decision No. 2474/QĐ-BNN-KH dated 23/08/2007 on approval of investment report of the intergrated rural development project in the Central provinces, capitalized at USD168.2 million, funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB), French Development Agency (AFD) and the home correspondent capital. Binh Dinh is one of 13 Central provinces receiving the funding.
Accordingly, the funding will be allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Developmet to improve the management of the project. The People’s Committee and the Departments of Agriculture and Rural development of the provinces are the governing bodies and investors of minor projects. The goal of the project is to upgrade the strategic rural infrastructure (communication routes, irrigational works, flood relief, rural piped water supply, markets and coastal works). The project mainly focus on the poor and less developed regions, without access to markets, services and knowledge; the poorest areas of the central coastal provinces which are more cared for the environment protection to develop sustainable income earning activities.
The project includes component parts: Rural and coastal infrastructure construction; Competence enhancement; Project management. The project duration is 6 years (2008-2013).
