Initial survey to indentify the project “Sustainable rural livelihoods in Binh Dinh Province”

In the morning of September 21, the delegation of surveying to indentify the project “Sustainable rural livelihoods in Binh Dinh Province” led by Mr Chris Wheatley (in the middle of the below picture), International expert on rural development had a working visit to the Department of Planning and Investment of Binh Dinh Province. 

At the meeting, the delegation was provided an overview of the provincial investment in the argriculture and rural development sector; the provincial plan of socio- economic development, especially the programs and projects relating to the argriculture and rural development sector; the investment incentive policies into the industrial zones and clusters. The two sides exchanged some issues relating to incomes, livelihoods of farmers and solutions to raise their living standards. 

During its working time in Binh Dinh Province, the delegation also worked with the Departmemts of Science and Technology; Natural resources and Environment; and Trade to learn about the producing and processing stratetries; the consumer markets of the provincial agriculture products; and the roles of related agencies in solving livelihoods of the people living in the rural areas. 

It is expected that at the end of September of 2007, the delegation will hold a seminar in Binh Dinh Province for relevant agenciess to contribute their ideas before the project’s identifying report submitted to the authoritied bodies.
