Investment into Laos needs to be introduced22 May 2008The Lao Government has just informed only Vietnamese invetors introduced by Vietnam’s appropriate authorities would be licenced operation permits in Laos. Recently, as many as Vietnamese businesses pour into Laos, investing in various fields, such as construction and operation of hydroelectric plants, exploration and exploitation of minerals, rubber plantation and etc. However, it was really awkward for the Lao Government to licence operation permits in some projects which proved to be a waste of money and time of investors. For this matter, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Investment and Planning in association with relevant ministries and local agencies to consider carefully in introducing Vietnamese enterprises to invest into Laos. For important projects needing introduction letter of the Prime Minister, they should be submiited to the Deputy Prime Minister, the President of Viet Nam-Laos Cooperation sub-Committee for a decision. |
