PM approves slew of plans in Quy Nhon

22 July 2008

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved plans to enlarge Quy Nhon while on a visit to the central town Sunday.

The town will be expanded from 286 square kilometers to 356 square kilometers by merging 70 square kilometers belonging to Tuy Phuoc District.

The PM also approved Ninh Binh Province’s proposals to improve Quy Nhon Port and Phu Cat Airport and asked the Ministry of Transport to help develop sea and air traffic.

The central government would fund deepening and widening of the waterway leading to the port and construction of a new port in Nhon Hoi, he added.

Dung suggested installing a runway lighting system at Phu Cat Airport to enable night flights and make it an international airport to attract investment and develop tourism.

He approved a plan to enlarge Nhon Hoi Economic Zone from 1,070 hectares to 1,350 ha and the construction of an SOS Village – for disadvantaged children – and the Quang Trung University in Quy Nhon.

He visited Quang Trung Museum and planted a tree as a mark of his visit and inspected the progress of the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone.

PM Dung also visited Dang Thuy Tram Health Care Center on his visit to Quang Ngai Province on Saturday.
