Binh Dinh Province: Promoting investment in Lao PDR

According to agreements between Binh Dinh Province and Southern Provinces of Lao PDR, besides cooperation and friendship activities, a number of specific investment projects have been proceeded. Binh Dinh Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Company (BIDIPHAR) is the first company to invest in Laos. Apart from the existing joint - venture project of Champasak - Binh Dinh Pharmaceutical Factory (CBF) in Champasak Province, it is now implementing a new project with the total capital of USD 14.2 million to plant 5,000 hectares of rubber trees and timber, and build a rubber processing factory in Southern Provinces of Laos. The next project is from Binh Dinh Production Investment Service Import-Export Company (PISICO) with the capital of USD 30 million also to plant rubber and timber trees, in association with building a rubber and timber processing factory in Southern Provinces of Laos and plant 10,000 hectares of tapioca in Sekong and Attapu for the industrial alcohol factory, an expected join - venture between PISICO and Hong Kong General Association of International Investment (HKAII). In addition, Tan Duc Duy Company Ltd. has just agreed with Laotian Vongvilay Company to set up a joint - venture factory to process timber and plant forest trees with nearly USD 1 Million investment in Attapu Province. In the mean time, Binh Dinh Sugar Joint Stock Company is also considering possibility of planting sugar canes and building a new sugar factory in Sekong.

The Investment Promotion Center, Department of Planning and Investment, is helping and guiding these enterprises to prepare the application documents to submit to MPI for the license of investment abroad.
